Brazil withdraws from hosting COP-25

The Brazilian government, together with Bolsonaro’s transition team, sent a message to UNFCCC withdrawing its candidacy to host COP 25- the Climate Conference of the Parties in 2019. The president elect declared that the decision was due to the possibility of Brazil leaving the Paris Agreement and to high financial costs. Appointed chancellor Ernesto Araujo supported Bolsonaro against what he called “climate alarmism”.
