Transition: Environment group asks for revoking of decrees that facilitate mining and fracking

The work group of the future government that analyzes environmental policy delivered its final report to President-elect Lula on Tuesday (12/13). The document makes a diagnosis of the environmental situation and proposes an action plan for the first 30 and 100 days of government, with the revocation of several rules and ordinances issued by the Bolsonaro administration in recent years that have weakened environmental protection.

Among the acts subject to revocation are the decree that created the Support Program for the Development of Artisanal and Small-Scale Mining, which favors illegal miners, and the decree published by the Bolsonaro government at the beginning of the month that released hydraulic fracturing (fracking) as a method for extracting oil and gas.
