Yanomami Association denounces scheme of illegal gold diggers buying vaccines with gold

According to allegations by the Hutukara Yanomami Association, vaccines against Covid-19 intended for indigenous people are being sold to gold diggers by professionals of the Special Secretariat for Indigenous Health (SESAI) who work in the Yanomami Indigenous Land in the state of Roraima.

In a letter sent to the Special Indigenous Health District that operates in the area (DSEI-Yanomami), to the Special Secretariat of Indigenous Health (Sesai) and the Public Prosecution Office (MPF), the group also denounces the dissemination of false information about the vaccine by invaders, as has been reported by indigenous groups in other Brazilian states.

According to the media outlet G1, the alleged theft and misuse of vaccines is already being investigated by the MPF in coordination with the Ministry of Health.
